Birthday Love: Five popular pairings of Preity Zinta
31 January 2025
Preity Zinta’s films ‘Dil Hai Tumhaara’ (2002), ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ (2001) and many others have brought with them some memorable pairings. From working with Aamir Khan, Mahesh Babu to Arjun Rampal this actress has worked with a lot of talented artists.
BizAsiaLive.com lists five actors that Preity Zinta has worked with that have become popular as a pairing.
Bobby Deol
Surprisingly Zinta and Bobby Deol have worked in less than six films together with two of them being cameos and in one film they had no scenes together whatsoever.
Many will remember Zinta and Deol in the film ‘Soldier’ (1998) where the two worked together for the very first time. They were a fresh pairing and they looked great together onscreen. Both have said in various interviews that they were friends for many years before they joined the film industry. Perhaps it is this reason that they were so comfortable working with each other.
2007 was the last time they were cast opposite each other in the romantic, comedy ‘Jhoom Barabar Jhoom’. It also had Abhishek Bachchan star opposite Zinta as well but to see both Zinta and Deol together was a different kind of excitement altogether.
There has been a lot of news regarding the sequel ‘Soldier 2’ which is said to begin filming this year but whether Zinta and Deol will reprise their roles that is the question everyone is asking.
Salman Khan
From ‘Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega’ (2000), ‘Dil Ne Jise Apna Kahaa’ (2004) to ‘Heroes’ (2008) most of their films were romantic dramas. Another thing to note is that they would be in some sort of love triangle like in the films ‘Chori Chori Chupke Chupke’ (2001) and ‘Jaan-E-Mann’ (2006).
However that being said they did share some great chemistry onscreen. Songs like ‘aate jaate jo milta hai’, ‘chori chori chupke chupke’ and ‘mannata’ are some songs that prove this. Their performances together had a magic unlike others.

Saif Ali Khan
This jodi was loved by all in fact people would assume they’ve worked in a lot of films together but it turns out they have worked in around five films together and in one of them Zinta didn’t even have any scenes with Saif Ali Khan.
The first time they worked together was in ‘Kya Kehna’ (2000) where she played the role of Priya a bubbly girl with a golden heart who was loved by all around her. However when she falls for the popular college boy Rahul (Khan) her life changes in so many ways that she could never have imagined. After that they were seen in ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’ (2003) and then ‘Salaam Namaste’ in 2005 which their fans really enjoyed. While the topic of their films may be of a serious nature when it comes to their comedy scenes together they have a great talent for it. Who can forget the Hamber vs Nikhil Arora phone battle that was being aired live on the radio for the listeners to hear. That scene was pure comedy.
Shah Rukh Khan
A pairing that is timeless and one that their fans can’t get enough of. From ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’ (2003) to ‘Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna’ (2006) each film touches the heart thanks to their memorable performances. One film that has become a classic and will forever be cherished is the beautiful ‘Veer-Zaara’ (2004). This film will make one laugh, cry and even wish for a true love like theirs.
While the first time Zinta and Shah Rukh Khan had worked together was in 1998 in ‘Dil Se..’ they didn’t get many scenes together. This film was Zinta’s debut and she had a supporting role but the best part of all was that she didn’t go unrecognised. The famous song ‘jiya jale’ sung in the vocals of Lata Mangeshkar, M.G. Sreekumar and the chorus was picturised on Zinta and Khan. The voice of the legendary Mangeshkar suited Zinta very well and in terms of choreography Farah Khan gave it her all to make sure this song becomes a big hit onscreen, which it did. The filming was done in some breath taking locations making this song not only popular in audio but visually too. The entire film album was a hit but this song had a fan following of its own.
Hrithik Roshan
The first time Zinta worked with Hrithik Roshan was in the year 2000 in the action thriller ‘Mission Kashmir’. The film had a very popular soundtrack with one song getting a lot of attention in particular ‘bumbro’. After that Rakesh Roshan decided to cast the two of them in his Sci-Fi film ‘Koi… Mil Gaya’ (2003) which the audience really liked. They both had a nice chemistry on screen and the film did exceptionally well. Later two sequels were made to the film called ‘Krrish’ (2006) and ‘Krrish 3’(2013) but due to the story Zinta had very little screen time in the first sequel with the last film showing glimpses of her roles from the earlier films.
After that they were cast opposite each other in the war film ‘Lakshya’ (2004) directed by Farhan Akhtar. At the time the film didn’t get much appreciation but many years later it became a favourite of many. Again it was the songs in particular that caught the attention of the audience and the romantic number ‘agar main kahoon’ in the vocals of Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik was one of them.
The team at BizAsiaLive.com wishes Preity Zinta a very happy 50th birthday!
