Lakshya & Vikrant Massey to revive Karan Johar’s ‘Dostana 2’?
Karan Johar’s ‘Dostana 2’ is reportedly being revived after the project was shelved in 2021 following the filmmaker’s fallout with Kartik Aaryan.
While Aaryan has since moved on to another Dharma Productions film, ‘Naagzilla’, sources reveal that Lakshya remains part of ‘Dostana 2’s’ cast. Additionally, Vikrant Massey has emerged as the frontrunner for the parallel lead role.
Originally announced in 2019 with Aaryan, Janhvi Kapoor, and Lakshya, the film faced setbacks after 21 days of shooting, when Johar revealed that Aaryan had exited due to “creative differences.” The project was eventually put on hold, and Lakshya later made his Bollywood debut with ‘Kill’ (2023).

An insider close to the development told Mid-Day, “When discussions about reviving the rom-com began, retaining Lakshya was a given. ‘Dostana’ is celebrated for its bromance, and the makers wanted a fresh pairing for the sequel. Vikrant Massey, who has reportedly landed a role in ‘Don 3’, is now the strongest contender. The team is looking for actors with both chemistry and gravitas, and Vikrant fits the bill perfectly.”
