Mumbai police detain man in connection with Saif Ali Khan’s attack

Mumbai police have detained a man suspected of the multiple stabbing of actor Saif Ali Khan early Thursday morning.

The suspect was taken to the Bandra police station for questioning after authorities identified him using clear CCTV footage. The footage, captured at 2:33 a.m. (IST) on January 16, 2025, shows the individual on a staircase, which police believe he used to access Saif’s 11th-floor Bandra apartment via the fire escape.

Saif Ali Khan sustained multiple stab wounds, including a serious injury to his thoracic spinal cord. During a five-hour surgery, a 2.5-inch piece of the blade was removed from his spine.

Providing an update on Saif’s recovery, Dr. Nitin Narayan Dange of Lilavati Hospital said, “Saif Ali Khan is doing excellent. We made him walk, and he can walk well. There is no problem and not much pain.”

Dr. Dange also confirmed that Saif has been moved from the ICU to a special room, with restricted visitor access for a week due to the risk of spinal infection. “The injury in his spine has a potential chance for spreading infection, so precautions are being taken,” he added.

The investigation into the attack is ongoing.
